Visiting New Orleans Louisiana can be one of those vacations you need a vacation from, when you get back but it is certainly worth it. The food and drink alone makes New Orleans a favorite among travelers and certainly provides for a trip to remember. Bring the family or get away with the boys or girls and this city has something for everyone.

When in New Orleans, one of the highlights to see is the historic French Quarter. With over 300 restaurants in the French Quarter, you will find plenty of wonderful cuisine, the atmosphere New Orleans is famous for, and shopping like nowhere else. When you are ready to relax and listen to some music, be sure to visit Bourbon Street known for its incredible mob packed Mardi Gras and no shame tourists. However off peak (non Mardi Gras time) it is a great place to kick back and enjoy the true Creole culture.

However, don't leave the city without taking the streetcar tour of the Garden District which is the oldest continuously operating streetcar in the country. The route takes you up St. Charles Avenue, past some of the grandest homes in the south, past Tulane and Loyola Universities, and up the river bend to Carrollton. You can add Cajun dancing, Horse Carriages and Riverboats rides and stay busy taking in all the sites for days.

For a great place to slow down for a little while, check out Faulkner House Books located in the French Quarter townhouse where William Faulkner lived while he wrote his first novel. This quaint place is just the place to sip a cup of java and take in the old town feel. Best of all this place is seldom crowded.

Another item on the agenda could be the nighttime graveyard tour. Departing from the French Quarter, get a midnight candlelight tour of the oldest and most haunted graveyard in Louisiana. This tour is especially popular around Halloween. Another interesting tour is the swamp bayou tour. Go by boat through the bogs of the bayou and come face to face with alligators and spectacular wildlife. Witness birds up close and see gators get fed up close by Bayou Billy himself. An optional part of the tour is a fast fan boat ride through the deltas and rivers of the bayou if you like. A trip not for the faint hearted or scared.

Last but not least, you can also visit the New Orleans Aquarium. See spectacular fish and sea life and get a break from the hot humid weather. The aquarium is a great place to visit mid day especially during the summer.

I need to find information on Hurricane Katrina in Gulfport and Biloxi MI.?
Everywhere I look, it's all about New Orleans. New Orleans damage was mostly due to the levee break and flooding, but Gulfport/Biloxi was hit full force by the hurricane. I have been to both places for katrina relief and i felt that I needed to report on Gulfport/Biloxi because i felt they are overlooked. Can someone tell me where i can get information on specific things that were completely destroyed? A website name would be helpful. Google and search engines haven't helped. im from Ms. and when hurricane katrina hit every national news coverage is about new orleans every year now on the annerversry all it talks about is new orleans never ever do they talk Ms getting damage. plus new orleans damages were because of floods and the floods shouldnt have even been there but the levies failed but on our case in mississippi our storm surge was not because of levies failing it was because the ocean nothing to do with man made stuff but all over the news all they talk about is the levies failing in new orleans places hear got up to 30 40 feet in storm serge. and this past year bush came down to Ms and gave a speech about katrina and the next day he was in new orleans giving a speech about it. so on nbc that day they didnt say nothing about bush being in Ms but only about him being new orleans. and on our local news they were talkin bout this too. we get no attenion if the levies woiuldnt have failed then there damage wouldnt have been bad Y dont we get anyatenion ms was natrual desaster new orleans man made deisaster dont rag on missississippi its a great place to live it doesnt take 20 minutes just to drive a mile great hospitality great people have came from Ms.
